You know buddy, even pinging an HD can have big EMI issues. Of course, I haven't experienced any connectivity issues at all, like I said a while ago SC is still works great even through 40 sm solid wall 2-3 m apart (well maybe not through, but by reflected signal, if so the distance between SC and receiver is about 15 m). I had connectivity prompts during loading screens most of the times there. What I really want to say that indicator can be just broken in some way. Originally posted by Consona:The funny fact about that: I had connectivity issues (attention!) only when I was playing Valve's games on Source engine (Portals, HL2s). You do not have to delete your whole library either and can just point right back to it so you don't have to redownload your whole library again. This is very rarely needed but it can't hurt. What I usually do is just uninstall it entirely and reinstall from fresh. I will say that you could also try just refreshing your steam install itself. This is what actually controls the controller and handles things like, the popup you are having too much of.ĭefinitely, try opting into beta and see, this is always good practice with the steam controller because sometimes there are newer fixes made that are in the beta client first. If it is a software thing at all then it is most likely due to some update they made to the client software. If it were there, then you would have been having issues a while ago. The reason you don't want to do it is because the Firmware simply cannot be the problem since the latest firmware they have was released back in FEB of this year. As far as the firmware question, yes there is and I will tell you how but I will tell you NOT to do it.I also wrote the guide on how to do that too. Ok, so there is a lot to cover here so I will try to do my best. Ive got it plugged into the original stand valve supplied with it Etc, I've got it plugged into a USB hub today to see if maybe seperating it from my PC will make a difference. One thing I have not yet tried is opting out of the beta clients, that's what im going to try next. Is it possible to reset the firmware on my controller and re-update it? its only bee doing it for the past month or so. I've tried a few things, I live in a house so no new routers around. Even if this isn't your problem, troubleshooting it is still worth it. Here, I made a short write up on EMI in a guide I wrote that I will invite you to read. This is why these kinds of issues are so hard to suss out. Make sure the face of the dongle, with the piston logo, is facing in your direction. Also, do you use the extender for the dongle that it came with? If not, then you really should be. Keep in in your pocket or on the coffee table in the line of sight and that absolutely can have a major effect on things. Just remember, anything can be the problem here, even if you just get a new phone that has a more powerful radio in it. About how far away are you from the receiver? Have you added any new wireless devices recently? If you live in an apartment, you could have someone put their router right on the other side of the wall, that kind of thing.
